Our sewer project has moved along very slowly. Since construction started in 2004, sewer mains have been installed in only 1/2 of the neighborhood. The primary reason for the slow progress was that the main contractor was fired by the city in the middle of the project. The pump station (in front of the Hortt School) is now complete and the residents in the completed sewer area (Basin B) are hooked up to the system. In November 2007, construction resumed for the rest of the neighborhood (Basin C). The new installation contractor, Ric-Man Construction, has the project moving along quickly now and we anticipate that all the remaining mains will be installed by December of this year (2008). Once the mains are all installed, the connection process should go quickly and with good luck every household in Shady Banks will be hooked up to the system by early 2009.Waterworks, the city's sewer construction management team, has a useful and informative Website with details on the construction plans, schedules, hookup requirements, financing, contact phone numbers, etc. We suggest you click the link below and check out the Waterworks Website.
